“Promoting Kosovar Adolescent/Youth Protection and Capacities”- May-June 2000. An adolescent-led survey conducted jointly with the Women’s Commission to identify adolescent/youth needs and solutions to their concerns in Kosova. This project motivated and developed a new strategy for KYC itself to become an organized advocacy group for young people. The report of this survey was a background document in the conference in Winnipeg. Funded by the WOMEN’S COMMISSION, AMERICAN JEWISH WORLD SERVICE and IRC
“Student Councils” – January-October 2000
“Student Councils” – January-October 2000, a project for establishing a structured organization for secondary school students in the Region based on US college models. In addition to electing representatives for each class, students also elected a “chairmanship” for each school. These representatives also participate in a city-wide “chairmanship,” where students from each school meet together to discuss issues and have a path for raising issues with city officials. Student Councils are fully operative and functional after 10 months of support given by KYC. Funded by CORDAID

“Effimero of the New Millennium”- December 2000, a one-week open air festival for the Millennium celebrations. The festival was used for the promotion of tolerance, human rights and gender equality. It has become an annual event in Gjakova since then. Funded by CORDAID, SAVE the CHILDREN, IRC.

Gjakova 2000 - August 1999
“Gjakova 2000” – August 1999. An activity that involved thousands of volunteers from the community in cleaning up the historical/old part of the town destroyed during the war. The process of cleaning up this historical part of the town was followed by various cultural/artistic activities such as: art workshop and exhibition, live concert, photo workshop etc. This event organized more than 2000 young people.
